Mission First - Barbados
Barbados For Christ & Vision One Million wrapped up today in a wonderful service in Trinidad with Evangelist Mark Finley, and thousands being baptised around the Inter-American Division of SDA (IAD) territory. To God be the glory!
Over the next several days it is expected that results from the various crusade sites will become clear and we hope to post them here. In the meantime, keep on praying for and supporting those crusades which have been extended by a week or so, and indeed also for those like at Speightstown - http://j.mp/1DKyoE5 - which are just now getting started.
One of the lessons of Barbados For Christ has been the need for refocussing the Church in the Age of Social Media on the importance and centrality of Mission. Clearly, something is wrong when the Church-sponsored site with the largest social media following manages to get through five weeks of the largest outreach effort by the Church in Barbados for a long time without once mentioning "Barbados For Christ" or anything to do with soul-winning. Something is clearly amiss when the lead church sponsoring what was supposed to be the largest tent effort never posted so much as a single photo of that effort on its Facebook Group page, but when a controversial incident arose way in Antigua, suddenly that gets precedence over everything else.
Barbados needs to refocus on the mission of the SDA Church - that of confronting men and women with the truth claims of the gospel of Jesus Christ as presented in the Three Angels Messages of Revelation Chapter 14. Consequently, and going forward, this site over the next several days will be re-branding itself in a rearguard and/or vanguard effort through social media to refocus the Church on its true mission and calling, and the urgency of doing so in the Age of Social Media.
Welcome "Mission First - Barbados!"
